Symptoms of Asperger's Syndrome
• difficulty recognizing social cues
• awkward body language
• social isolation
• fixation on certain objects
At this time, there is no known cause for Asperger's Syndrome.
Children affected by Asperger’s develop language skills at an average, expected rate, but may have trouble picking up social cues and seem obsessive or preoccupied. Treatment for Asperger’s often includes medication for hyperactivity or aggression to curb further behavioral problems that may arise. This should be supplemented with therapy, as a trained clinician can offer guidance on dealing with emotions and social situations.
