Licensed Mental Health Counselor - Dr. Tia Buchanan, M.A., M.A., M.S., PhD. LPC, LPCS, LAC, CSSBB, NBCC NCE/NCMHCE NCC/CCMHC
Dr. Buchanan is DUALLY licensed in SOUTH CAROLINA, AND VERMONT as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She serves as Director/Founder of Acorns n Bones OMC, Acorns n Bones LLC, now only available ONLINE. She is the designer of TAIM Model©, and has designed several counseling models AnBOMC used in family, individual, play therapy, and Somatic Yoga exclusively for Acorns n Bones OMC© with Six-Sigma process management methodologies since 2019 when she completed her Certification in Six-Sigma Green and Black Belt levels.
Dr. Tia provides LPC Supervision for LPCA’s, LPC’s, LCSW’s, LMFT’s in SC who are interested in licensure in clinical mental health from a highly focused adaptive foundation in clinical mental health.
Dr. Tia is an EMDRIA EMDR Clinician since 2019. Since 2010, with the NCCA, Dr. Buchanan counseled families, teens, adults, and adolescents and focused her clinical and educational work (since 2014) on community care coordination, and traumatology from a developmental psychology foundation. Being competent in the ability to pull from a wide range of hats (“we’re all mad here”), she treats individuals suffering from psychiatric illnesses, severe nomeclature, psychosomatic disorders and behavioral issues stemming from childhood physical, emotional, neglectful, sexual abuse, and trauma, from an attachment EMDR and Play Therapy whole person foundation.
Dr. Buchanan enjoys writing and is a published children’s author “The Ride,” “My Heart My Broken Heart” (Adult and children’s versions) (2022), “Special Melted Crayons” (2023). She started writing poetry in childhood, and has been a published poet professionally since age 11 with the International Poetry Society. She enjoys counseling and research, painting, charcoal drawing, mixed media expressions, creating meme’s, and enjoys website and digital collage development, yoga, kickboxing, and weight and fitness training.

Master of Human Services Marriage & Family Therapy Cognate (Cum laude) which she completed prior to switching to a CACREP Master of Professional Counseling: Clinical Mental Health (Cum laude)(60 HOUR, 150+600 P/I) to assess, treat, and provide clinical therapy for severe nomeclature.
Dr. Tia completed her 1st Doctorate in Education & Counseling (PhD). in 2012 (Summa cum laude) while simultaneouly attending Liberty University for her CLINICAL Master of Professional Counseling: Clinical Mental Health CACREP (Cum Laude) (2014).
She earned Certification in SIX-SIGMA Green & Black Belt Levels, process management and organizational development, focusing on implementing Six-Sigma DMAIC tools into the role of counseling and non-profit management and organization.
At Capella University, Dr. Tia earned Post Master Certification in Play Therapy , and went on to earn a: Master of Science Forensic Psychology: Pediatric Mental Health Applications (Walden University) where she focused her education and clinical training into assessement and treatment of personality disorders.
In 2018, Dr. Tia Buchanan earned her Licensed Professional Counselor (6810) with a Licensed Addictions Counselor (178). In 2018 Dr. Tia earned credentials as a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (7785) with the SC LLR Board. She completed EMDR Basic and Level 2 training to earn EMDRC Certification (EMDRIA, 2019) and is an EMDRIA EMDR Clinician. She is currently pursuing finalization of a second Doctorate, PhD. Developmental Psychology: Education and COmmunity Care & Coordination (Liberty University). She is a LPC in both South Carolina and Vermont.
