“Do you fear being hurt? Do you get anxious you might lose someone important to you? Do you worry about others criticizing you? Do you sometimes feel helpless or lose a sense of control? Do you find it hard to say ‘no’ and express your needs? Are boundaries something you struggle with or constantly trying to please others? Do you feel you are ‘always on the go’ or cannot stop worrying? Do you sometimes feel disconnected and detached from the present and those around you? You are not alone and there is a way for you to thrive and not only survive.
My clients leave therapy gaining skills and tools around emotion regulation, responding to unhelpful beliefs, and changing unhealthy coping behaviors that affect their relationship with self and others. I am excited to hear from you and I admire your eagerness to heal and grow.
My Approach:
We all have the inbuilt motivation towards self-realization, if obstacles are removed we are able to develop into healthy beings. As a psychotherapist, my main clinical goal for you is to feel safe and accepted throughout therapy. My work with you focuses on removing the obstacles in your life that prevent you from growing. I, first focus on fostering a safe space for what change looks like for you and the impact of your issues on your life. Also, by highlighting your values and what is important to you, I believe we can create ways for you to move towards a meaningful life.
In order to move forward, I believe it’s important to gain awareness of our past and understand how traumas and past attachments affect our present relationship with ourselves and others. We will access buried emotions you may carry for a long time. Throughout our work together, we will work to grieve any losses and come to terms with the past. Not only that, but I care to explore with you the unique outcomes in your narrative and the strengths that have allowed you to go through those stressful times. I believe that building concrete skills to cope with the present day is essential for growth. Therefore, part of our work together is psychoeducation by using worksheets, visuals, and metaphors. We will work to gain skills around emotion regulation, responding to unhelpful beliefs, and changing unhealthy coping behaviors that affect your relationship with yourself and others. Throughout the process of healing, I emphasize and teach self-compassion. I believe that having a genuine curiosity towards yourself without judgment is an ingredient of healing and growth.
