My Background:
I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at North Carolina State University located in Raleigh, NC. Go WOLFPACK!!! I began my career in human services/social services, and in the helping profession in 2009, by being a Court Appointed Guardian ad Litem (GAL) for Durham, County, NC, and Temporary Food and Nutrition (now known as Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program, SNAP) Case Manager for Wake County, NC, County. I started my clinical training in 2011 at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, VA. Behold the GREEN & GOLD!!! It was there that I completed my Master of Social Work degree with a Clinical Concentration, and where I focused my studies on military families, students with children, and minority mental health.
I am currently licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the states of Virginia, Colorado, and Nevada. I am only accepting clinical clients in VA, CO, and NV at this time. I like to approach issues from a strength-based perspective and employ techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Bowen Family Systems Theory, Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness, Positive Psychology, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) among other treatment of modalities to assist my clients in reaching their goals. It is my desire to be a support for you as you experience life abundantly. I achieve this by being open and honest with my clients from the moment treatment begins until termination. My desire is to teach you skills that you can utilize and improve the quality of your life. This will help you gain insight into who you are. As well as be a realistic look at what led to the creation of the problems you seek to change. This method provides my clients with clarity on what to do next. I do believe in teaching coping skills. I do not wish to simply help you cope but to aid you in reducing and if possible, terminating your symptoms altogether.
