I am a generalist for adults, helping both individuals and couples with a wide range of issues, including: depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, insecurity, relationship & family conflict, grief, rejection, perfectionism, and feelings of inadequacy. My approach is eclectic and flexible. I will meet you where you are- in an authentic and compassionate way. I try to balance support and challenge; using a sincere, open and non-judgmental stance to help you find the most effective solutions to fit your unique needs. Typically, the goals include cultivating self-awareness, skillful emotional expression, and developing practical tools for navigating life in a way that increases satisfaction and well-being.
In an effort to cater to your needs while ensuring a high standard of quality care, we will work to frame the presenting issues that bring you to therapy in a way that moves towards growth and change. We will explore the experiences that have molded your personality, and patterns that may or may not be as helpful as they used to be for your life goals.
My approach is collaborative. I strive to create a partnership with each individual/couple that respects their own problem-solving style while providing additional tools to address unmet needs and goals. Everyone has strengths and challenges and our work together can fortify those strengths while mitigating challenges, thereby helping to reduce stress and suffering in daily life.
I enjoy working with couples, as relationships often contribute most profoundly to our sense of meaning and happiness. Especially in the current culture of competing demands, actively maintaining loving connections can be challenging. Using a proven method of couples therapy, The Gottman Approach, I help couples reconnect from destructive patterns of arguing, distance, and mistrust, getting back on track to grow their relationships deeper, richer, and more fulfilling.
I believe that sexuality and pleasure are fundamental to the human experience as well. I take a sex positive approach to therapy by appreciating each client’s experiences and work to heal discomforts, dysfunction and struggle across many sexual issues in relationships.
The therapy process can be life changing if you find a therapist that fits you well. I would encourage you to be intentional in your commitment to the process. If our personalities synergize, I expect that you will find the process of working with me to be immensely helpful if not one of the most important things you do for yourself and your loved ones.
I am currently taking new clients, and can typically provide an initial appointment within a week of your request for services.
I work with couples and partnerships to explore, prepare, repair, and renew relationships. I can help couples finds their way through struggles and hurts to move forward to reclaim the love, trust, intimacy or desire that has been lost or misplaced.
Balancing career, health, family, relationships, recreation, technology, and self-care can be daunting. Coming together to help strengthen communication and listening skills can help I listen closely and ask clarifying questions to help each person figure out what she or he needs to thrive, and what to let go of.
