I believe that within each individual lies an inexhaustible source of personal wisdom that can be drawn on to guide us through any struggle: this wise inner part of Self always knows which paths & choices are right for you more than any other outside authority (including me!) ever will.
No matter who I’m working with, my respect for this innate capacity to determine one’s own truth forms the basis of how I show up as a therapist in session… I have tools for teaching you how to develop skills for building strong relationships with self & other — but I’m not here to decide *for you* what that should look like. Therapy is about facilitating a helping relationship with yourself!
In therapy my goal is always to create an authentic, nonjudgmental, safe, supportive, honest, client-centered, & skill-driven relationship with my clients. I find that the best work is most easily done when the client-therapist connection is *real*; mutual; emotionally dynamic; oriented toward achieving the client’s self-directed goals; felt deeply on both sides of the relationship; and is rooted in facilitating relational experiences that heal & lead one toward growth & finding meaning.
Each person’s journey toward emotional health & well-being is unique; I honor this perspective by remaining open, curious, and flexible in the way I address the individual therapeutic needs of each client by drawing on experience; through continual research, practice, & knowledge of empirically-supported therapeutic interventions; by remaining committed to my own practice of mindfulness & developing awareness self-knowledge; & by following my intuition.
