Evelyn received her BA in Sociology from The Evergreen State College where her studies focused on the intersections of race and gender, particularly in the experiences of black women. She worked for many years in HIV/AIDS care and prevention organizations, working for Hawaii’s statewide syringe exchange program and later providing medical case management services for diverse populations living with HIV in Tacoma, Washington. Recently having returned from a year of traveling abroad, she is new to the Asheville area and excited to join the Open Path team. She holds a strong commitment to social justice values and hopes to help make mental health care accessible to all, especially immigrant communities and communities of color.
