Hello, my name is Troy French. If you are looking at this site that means you are searching for help, and if you believe that what I have may help – I hope you reach out.
As for myself, I have struggled with abuse, depression, anger, addiction, fear, and chronic physical pain. I remember how hard it was to take that first step and then to keep marching. As a male, and again as a veteran, I was taught to think I should be able to handle this all myself. I forgot that we are only strong due to those on our left and right.
My technique is difficult to explain, just as difficult as the situation people come to me with. That is because my technique is to begin by understanding you – a person with a problem so complex and painful that finding someone who understands it, let alone able to help, has been its own struggle.
Your circumstances are specific and unique, as are your strengths, weaknesses, motivations and temptations. I must first listen and come alongside you before knowing what may help or hinder you. I need to know what has worked in the past, and more importantly what has not. Once I do I can reinforce successes and offer additional perspectives/actions that empower you strengths and motivations while we begin to address your temptations and weaknesses.
In order to help you as best I can I have focused on expanding my modalities of treatment. I utilize psychoanalysis, psychodynamic, CBT, DBT, CPT, narrative reframing, motivational analysis and a host of standard evidence-based western techniques as appropriate. I am educated in biomedicine and the military mindset and can approach mental health through the proper care and maintenance of your physical health. I currently studying Traditional Chinese Medicine focusing on mental health self-care activities such as Qi Gong, acupressure and varying forms of meditation. Finally, your spiritual faith is important to your sense of right, wrong, and your moral imperatives. I have familiarized myself with the major religions and can hear and speak on the struggle within all of us.
We can use one, some, all, or none of these modalities and simply give you space to speak and be heard. I am here to help, but what I offer begins and ends with whether you help yourself, or not. I hope you do, if not with me, somewhere. Stay strong.
