My name is Tom O’Neill, a Contemplative Psychotherapist, which basically means that I work with how clients hold themselves—With curiosity? With generosity? With impatience? (etc.)—as a means of cultivating the kind of internal trust that facilitates real healing. Much of that work involves collaborative exploration. I believe in talk therapy, in how sharing challenging emotions eases their power and allows clients to relax into a fuller sense of self. In my practice I tend toward transparency, often sharing with clients what I am seeing and formulating as an invitation to them to have a strong voice in their process. Drawing from mindfulness modalities like Gestalt Psychology and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help clients reclaim their agency in times of stress. Drawing from contemplative traditions and Jungian Psychology, I help clients come into relationship with past and present selves in depth work that facilitates true healing. I seek to create a compassionate space in which you can explore, understand, and transform your life.
You can read more about my background and counseling approach on my website at www.tomoneilltherapy.com.
I am licensed in CO, VA, and NY, and am available for telehealth therapy with clients from those states.
Looking forward to continuing the conversation!
