As an empathetic and caring therapist. I am passionate about helping people transform their lives, heal, set boundaries, learn new, healthy behaviors and coping skills. I believe that each person has the capacity to discover their own resilience and make choices that are suitable for their lifestyle. I have been working in the field of Social Work for two and a half years with a concentration in Children and Families. I began my career as a Social Worker, working with the elder population in a non-profit organization. I was partially raised by my grandparents and great-grandparents; I thoroughly appreciate the transparency of our elders. My experience thus far, has been with children (5 and up), teens, young adults, middle-aged adults, and the elderly population.
To ensure that I am able to provide quality services to my clients, I went on to obtain my LMSW in August of 2020. I continued to further my knowledge by actively seeking training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. With these evidenced based treatments, I am able to provide individual therapy for diverse populations. I currently serve clients that need assistance with managing and processing their anxiety, trauma, grief, depression, self-esteem, stress, anger, PTSD, religious trauma, and eating disorders.
Spirituality is very important and has proven to be a vehicle to assist clients in moving forward. However, adding therapeutic modalities can assist clients with processing trauma and developing necessary tools to cope with life stressors. My goal is to dispel the stigma surrounding mental healthcare in BIPOC communities and eliminate the myth among the “church population” that people of color don’t need therapy, they can pray their problems away!
“Your pastor can’t do what a therapist does. Although they are both necessary, spiritual and clinical help are not the same.” – Trin
