Everyday life can become so difficult at times that we lose touch or disconnect from ourselves. My approach focuses on supporting clients in their journeys to experiencing their selves in an authentic and grounded manner so that they may enjoy the world around them. I specialize in complex trauma, intimacy concerns (strengthening one’s connection with the self and others), sexual abuse recovery, self-expression, spirituality, & identity development. I also have an extensive history working with depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and crisis management.
I work through a person-centered, queer theory lens. This means that I provide a framework for the comprehensive infusion of LGBTQ+ issues, under the umbrella of multiculturalism. By utilizing this therapy style, I am able to work with clients to rethink traditional concepts and definitions of what sexuality, gender, and identity mean to them. It also allows me to guide clients to establish a healthy relationship between their intersecting cultural identities, given the environments we grow up in often influence our way of being in various conscious and subconscious ways. I value each part of my clients’ personality and sense of self, and thus, I strongly emphasize creative techniques to help access and strengthen one’s full spectrum identity. Many times this includes the integration of Parts Work (Internal Family Systems), art therapy, somatic practices, and holistic remedies to one’s overarching wellness.
I value what it means for someone to be seen for who they truly are and who they want to become. As a therapist, I am passionate about helping clients to bridge the gap between their goals, fears, traumas, and dreams. More importantly, I understand the level of courage that clients must have to embark on a journey of self-growth, as I have been on the other side of the process. Collaboratively, I help clients lean into their innate power and strength so they may find the motivation, coping skills, and security they need to move past the anxiety of what life “could” or “should” be. I guide people to trust their intuition. Whether this includes assisting clients to identify their needs, set boundaries, or become grounded in their day-to-day lives, I aim to help people achieve their goals in the ways that feel best for their body, mind, and spirit.
