I view therapy as a supportive partnership where I will help you work through your difficulties and stuck points. Change can sometimes be frustrating and discouraging. I can assist you in this process by helping you find new ways of looking at and approaching situations, giving you insight and clarity. This process results in helping you feel better.
I provide individual therapy services to adults of all ages, and am licensed to practice in NC and SC. I have over 15 years of experience working with clients of various backgrounds and life situations. I worked for years providing therapy in adult community mental health settings, a college counseling center, as well as experience serving as a Mental Health/Dual Diagnosis therapist for Native American/tribal population.
First and foremost, I am a client centered therapist, meaning we partner and work together to create your therapy experience. I value respect, trust, and confidentiality in the therapeutic process. I am trained in and utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches, including Mindfulness, and various other forms of CBT. I also use insight oriented/psychodynamic, compassion focused, Relational-Cultural, and family systems approaches. Interventions are tailored to each person’s unique needs and preferences. I am well experienced in treatment of anxiety (including Generalized Anxiety, Phobia, Panic Disorder, etc), depression, grief/loss, codependency, life adjustments and transitions, family of origin issues, and caregiver stress issues.
One of the strongest predictors of therapeutic success is the counseling relationship.
