I specialize in relational trauma/ attachment injuries from childhood that show up as adult emotional wounds affecting our relationships and sense of self, identity-related issues, trauma and anxiety particularly with respect to cultural stress. If you can resonate with the dysphoric feeling of being gaslit or rendered invisible, you’ll understand the focus of my work. Activated by deep seated feelings of rejection? Drowning in narcissistic relationships? Abandonment? Betrayal? No need to suffer quietly. I can help you understand and address these feelings in a way that is natural and affirming. Together we can go beyond treating surface behaviors to support self-advocacy as you direct your life and engage in fulfilling activities and relationships. Our main focus will be on increasing connection to Self, others and a sense of purpose using a somatic/body based approach beyond talk therapy.
I have very specific and advanced training related to complex trauma, relational distress and also autism/ADHD. I am constantly seeking and engaging in emerging interventions that create foundational stability so individuals can lead self-directed lives.
Many of my adult clients struggle with relationships centered around co-dependent behaviors and narcissistic abuse all of which can sometimes manifest as hypersensitivity to rejection or abandonment and affect how we relate to ourselves and others. My attachment focus includes parents, those anticipating parenthood, single adults and those rebounding from successive unsatisfactory relationships.
In sessions, this approach is focused more on what you FEEL and less on how you think. That means we will be working towards building your inner resilience towards less reactivity and more energized feeling in the moment to act in accordance with your true intentions. This often translates into greater ability to live in the present with presence. That’s a vital component to being in your life instead of the sidelines.
Using Polyvagal Theory, Sensorimotor psychotherapy, EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy), Ego State Work (Parts), Brainspotting and EMDR, I help delve into the somatic and deeper aspects of stress/trauma. I am also trained in disaster recovery which allows me to use rapid interventions that can bring relief in as little as one to two sessions. Please ask me about this specialized training, as I’m super excited to allow individuals to experience this type of relief that is self-administered and very empowering.
I am passionate about helping to resolve past issues that pile up and fog our ability to take that next step. Your body and mind is not designed to take hit, after hit, after hit and then operate at your best potential. I can help you pause and hit your reset button.
Please reach out to me to explore your options. The best way to reach me is via email or text. If you feel ready, you may check my availability and book a therapy session direct from my site. All treatment begins with a thorough assessment after which we will discuss an approach to best fit your needs or I will provide you with a referral recommendation and help you transition to a more appropriate level of care, if that is appropriate. I know that it takes courage and vulnerability to start therapy and I’ve tailored my practice to be efficient and responsive with this in mind.
I encourage you to visit my website at www.UrimRecovery.com where I provide more detailed information regarding my practice so that you can get the most out of your initial assessment. *To secure your appointment, please complete your intake paperwork upon receipt so that it can be reviewed in advance of your session. Please note, to provide a limited number of discounted services to potential clients, I do require that you be motivated to participate in your treatment which is typically weekly for 1-6 weeks and then bi-weekly thereafter, as appropriate. I do not operate on a crisis basis. If you need assistance 2x a week, I will be happy to provide a referral.
