Hi there. Thank you for considering working with me in therapy. If you have been feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck you may be considering trying therapy. This is a brave choice that shows you want to feel better and experience new things. If you have been dealing with a problem for a long time, you may wonder if therapy or anything can help. There are many reasons to hope you can feel better, and develop skills that can help you with challenges you face. I specialize in providing treatment for adults, teens, and children with generalized anxiety, social anxiety, trauma, self-esteem issues, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). I also work well with people experiencing transitions and people with obsessive compulsive disorder.
Therapist-Client Fit: I strongly believe in the importance of therapist-client fit and I want you to find a therapist who you connect with whether it is me or someone else. Finding a therapist you fit with is often influenced by their therapy style, personality, training, schedule, and sometimes other factors. Have you considered what matters to you? You will want someone you can be honest with and feel safe, but also someone you believe can help you reach your goals that brought you to therapy. My clinical style is laid back, empathetic, flexible, creative, and goal-focused. The therapy environment I provide is warm, safe, nonjudgmental, and empowering. I believe in identifying and understanding your problems, but we will also focus on your strengths to work towards change and healing.
I work best clinically with people who want to feel more peaceful inside, people who feel stuck and want change, and people trying to heal from past experiences that have damaged their trust in others or themselves. I also greatly enjoy helping people who feel different than others or like they don’t fit because of ADHD, anxiety or other reasons. If you feel like your self-confidence, goals, or relationships have been impacted by symptoms of ADHD or anxiety I may be a good therapist fit for you.
I have worked with survivors of sexual abuse, emotional abuse, emotional neglect, relationship violence and bullying for many years. If you have experienced this and are looking to participate in trauma treatment, I provide therapy for people of all ages using trauma therapy techniques including EMDR, Brainspotting, TF-CBT, Play therapy, and CBT.
Education and Training Background: I have worked as a therapist for over 10 years and am a licensed psychological associate and licensed clinical social worker in North Carolina. I am experienced in providing individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy to clients of all ages. I have completed training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Play Therapy, Brainspotting, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).
