Why should I come to counseling?
When we think about counseling, sometimes we think that you have to sit in an uncomfortable couch and have someone “analyze” everything that you’re saying and tell you if you’re crazy or not. Although you do have sit on a couch when you come to counseling and do have to share your information with a therapist, however, think of counseling as a safe space where you can be yourself and not feel like you are being judged by your actions or for who you are.
I am a graduate from Walden University and have a master’s degree of science in clinical mental health counseling (MS). I also received my bachelor’s degree from Berry College and my associate degree from Georgia Highland College. I currently have a certification as a substance abuse counselor (CADC-II) from the Alcohol and Drug Certification Board of Georgia (ADCBGA). I have worked in the field of substance abuse since 2016 and have extensive experience with treating individuals with opiate use disorder.
I work with those experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, grief, relationship issues, anger issues, and trauma. I also see adults and children struggling with adjusting to a new culture as I myself was born in Ecuador and immigrated to the United States as a child and can understand how difficult it is to adjust to a new culture.
My theoretical approach/ orientation is person-centered or client-centered approach which means that I am here for my clients and are here to listen to their concerns and be empathetic of their concerns and needs without judging them. I also practice cognitive-behavioral theory (CBT) as well as motivational interviewing (MI) and solution-focused therapy (SFT).
I am a bilingual therapist, and I am fluent in Spanish. Soy una terapeuta profesional que habla Español. Ofrezco servicios en español y me especializo en áreas de parejas y familias, abuso de alcohol y drogas, inmigración, trauma, etc. También trabajo con adultos, niños (10 años y adelante), y adolescentes.
I also offer telehealth sessions for those individuals who want to participate in counseling but are unable to due to their work schedule, family life, etc. I accept clients ranging from the ages of 10 years old and up.
I look forward to hearing from you.
