Hello, and welcome! As a licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 23 years of experience working with individuals, couples and families of all ages and backgrounds, I am here to help you. My comprehensive background includes experience in education, community mental health and the medical arena which enables me to integrate knowledge from different contexts into my practice. My clinical expertise and training as a Marriage and Family Therapist has prepared me to provide support around difficulties adjusting to developmental life transitions like the birth of a child, a new marriage, starting college, an unexpected death or the onset of a mental illness as well as relationship issues. I believe that therapy provides a safe and secure space in which you can explore and discuss issues while also learning strategies and skills that will help you develop new ways of coping, adjusting and communicating.
Another area of expertise and passion I have, is working with individuals with anxiety, specifically obsessive compulsive disorder. Anxiety is a natural part of life, and most of us experience it from time to time. While it is normal to worry or feel nervous when things are challenging or unexpected, abnormal anxiety can result in a significant negative impact on your sense of well-being and impair your ability to function. If you struggle with feelings of excessive worry, intrusive thoughts, or uncomfortable feelings about upcoming events or something else going on in your life, it is time to get professional help. I can help you learn to recognize the triggers and signs of anxiety. Together we will explore what is really going on, and I will teach you coping skills and relaxation skills necessary for taking control of faulty thinking and managing anxiety in your life.
My strengths-based approach to therapy utilizes a variety of modalities including, but not limited to, Family Systems therapy, Dialectical Behavior therapy, Mindfulness, Play therapy and Solution-Focused therapy. Sessions are tailored to individual client needs. I value mutual respect and honesty within the therapist-client relationship and I recognize that my clients have invaluable information to share. I always strive to validate my client’s personal experiences and instill a sense of hope during our work together.
I am here to help. Please consider reaching out to see if it will be a good fit!
