ONLY ACCEPTING CURRENT CLIENTS AT THIS TIME
The same way a plant in a dark room bends toward the light, people have a natural drive towards healing. Sometimes we just need a little help to clear the obstacles and debris from the path.
Hi, I’m Maggie, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, EMDR Trained Therapist and LENS Neurofeedback Practitioner who works with adults and teens who are experiencing ongoing challenges coping with traumatic life experiences, depression, anxiety, and toxic shame. My goal is to help you get unstuck and to walk with you on your journey of healing and transformation.
All people want good things. We want to feel safe, connected and capable. When something interferes with our ability to get these needs met in a healthy way, we develop alternative solutions or avoidance strategies that may help in the short-term but often cause harm in the long run. I provide a safe space for people to explore and process difficult experiences, as well as the self-defeating beliefs and over-adaptive behaviors they may have developed in response.
I Have A Genuine Interest In Others And Bring Warmth, Authenticity, and an Open, Non-judgmental Presence to Sessions
There isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to Therapy. Our sessions will focus on addressing your specific needs and concerns. My goal is to create a non-judgmental, collaborative space where you can be heard, understood and play an active role in your healing.
That means:
- I will always accept you for who you are and in your current life circumstances;
- I will show you how to inspire a belief that you can get better and develop the self-compassion to do so.
- I will help you heal your past, show you ways to manage your present, and learn to believe again in your own future.
Finding the Right Tools to Fit Your Needs.
Many people have only experienced therapy from a top down approach – an approach that seeks to harness the thinking, rational part of your brain to exert more control over the more primitive, instinctual survival structures. While this is a worthwhile skill, it is often out of reach for those who have experienced significant trauma or persistent threats to safety and/or connection, and it can often leave people feeling like “a failure” at therapy.
In my practice I use a wide variety of techniques and cutting-edge forms of intervention that are designed to treat the whole person in accounting for the physiological sources of stress, depression, and anxiety. Using the mind’s own natural process, we can calm your nervous system, strengthen your brain’s access to safety, and create the optimal conditions for insight, growth, and connection.
In addition to the more traditional talk-therapy approaches that most people think of when they think of therapy, I offer the following interventions:
- EMDR Therapy
- LENS Neurofeedback
- The Safe and Sound Protocol
As A Therapist, Here’s What I Believe
- You are worthy of love and care;
- Emotions heal when they are acknowledged and validated;
- Meaningful change is built on the foundation of a safe, accepting, and affirming therapeutic relationship;
- Change is possible when you allow yourself the space and compassion to do the work;
- You have within you the wisdom you seek;
- Loving and accepting ourselves for who we are, scars and all, is one of the most courageous things we can do
Together we will explore how intrusive thoughts and past experiences impact they way you feel, behave, manage stress, and releate to others, and I will help you gain the insight necessary to make concious positive changes. It is an honor to walk alongside my clients and to bear witness as they re-connect to those parts of themselves that may have gotten buried or disconnected. I love helping people tap into their innate ability to heal, discover their strengths and inner wisdom, and let go of the false narratives that no longer serve them.
I have extensive experience in working with client’s with C-PTSD (repeated, ongoing and/or developmental trauma) as well as single incident PTSD. I offer EMDR intensives (90 min-3hr EMDR session 1-2 weekly) at a prorated rate for single incident trauma and grief and loss issues when appropriate.
