I am Dr. Lynell Howard and I am a licensed professional counselor who has practiced counseling and therapy since 1998. I am licensed as a professional counselor in Georgia and Louisiana, and have worked as a school psychologist, in community mental health, in Military communities, and private practice. I have extensive experience working with age groups ranging from 13-65 and with individuals, couples, and with select groups, including military, the millennial generation, and LGBTQ+ clients.
The types of concerns I have assisted my clients with include anxiety, anger, depression, trauma/abuse, divorce, infidelity, family conflict, relationship issues, and grief. Additionally, I have worked with clients who are having difficulties self-esteem/self-confidence, coping skills, life-transitions, career issues, and everyday stressors that many people face in life. In my approach to therapy, I utilize theory and techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Process Therapy, Mindfulness, Narrative Therapy, Psychoeducation, and Solution-Focused Therapy among other modalities.
I congratulate you on taking the first step and reaching out for support and help to make change in your life. I hope that you find my approach fits your style and what you are looking for from a counselor so that we can take the next steps in overcoming your challenges together. You can count on me to be supportive, reliable, professional, and honest as we take this journey toward change. I believe that the counseling relationship is a partnership between client and therapist where we each bring something significant into the relationship. You bring your knowledge and information about you, your background and experiences, and your personal goals. I bring my knowledge, experience, and expertise with tools, strategies, and interventions to help you find your solutions and meet your goals. Open and honest communication plays a vital role in that process. You have my commitment to you to do my best to help you reach your goals and I need your commitment to do the same.
Thank you again for reaching out for help, for trusting me, and sharing the struggles you are having. I look forward to beginning this journey with you.
