As a therapist, I specialize in therapy with individuals 18 and older who have been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, formerly known as Asperger’s disorder, or who are concerned that they may have a diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Condition. I also have expertise in working with individuals on the Spectrum who have other challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. My practice is attuned to the special needs of those on the Spectrum to make your experience more productive and less stressful. I have been working with men and women on the Spectrum for ten years and would like to help you with your concerns.
People seek therapy for a variety of reasons. For example, some people come to me later in life seeking answers about differences they have felt for many years. There are many things that can be done to answer those questions and help the individual feel better. For those of you who have known about being on the Spectrum, we can work on concerns such as improving your skills, enhancing your life, and making life make more sense. There is no wrong reason to seek therapy; many reasons you might be reading this can be addressed in therapy. I can help you assess your needs for treatment and allow you to make an informed decision.
Making a decision about which therapist is best for you can be difficult. Research shows that a good relationship between therapist and client is the biggest predictor of success in therapy, it is more important than the type of therapy modality used or the age of the therapist. To assist you in making an informed decision about working with me, I offer a free consultation appointment, to meet and determine if we are a good match to work together. The first person you meet with may not be the best match for you; you may need to meet with more than one person to find the right “fit”. Meeting with me does not obligate you to work with me, it is just an opportunity to meet me and see my office to determine if we both feel we would be a good match to work together.
I am excited and energized by the time I spend working with individuals on the Spectrum, reading and studying about Autism Spectrum Conditions, and continuing to learn more from those who know it best. I would like to exchange information with you, learning from each other, and helping you improve your life in the ways that make you the best “you” possible. If I can be of help to you, please contact me. After our first contact, I allow for texting through the Signal app for those who are uncomfortable with using the phone.
