Hello and welcome!
The life path is full of wonders and sometimes difficulties. I believe that each person is unique in their needs and life context and am committed to the idea that each person is worthy of compassion, equality, respect, and dignity. Through caring honest dialog, I believe in a collaborative approach to discerning the most effective way of working to resolve the challenges life presents.
Each person is much more than a “set of symptoms” and must be seen as full complex humans within the larger context and circles in which they live, to fully understand the source of challenges and difficulties that they may be experiencing. I have a passion for exploration and finding the unique path that works for each client to live into a rich, full, and meaningful life.
YOU are the expert in your life. That being said, like mountain climbers on adjacent mountains, a therapist can help one see terrain on your mountain that you might not be able to see from your position on it. I believe in an eclectic therapy approach, discerning with each client how they learn and integrate change into their lives. I believe strongly in building psychological flexibility and fitness to improve our resilience. I favor the use of dialog and mindful focus on NOW in learning to be happier and healthier in all areas of life.
Regarding working with couples, I believe that an intimate partnership is more a shared path of discovery and self-mastery than a destination one “arrives at.” I believe every couple deserves can learn to foster respectful, kind, and considerate communication with each other, and learn about how our internal experiences may be contributing negatively to the relationship.
I am a life long learner and career changer, who graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington School of Social Work with a Master of Social Work. I have particular experience working with intimate partner violence, anger/aggression, and trauma.
I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the American Psychological Association, the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science, and the America Society for Quality.
