I help survivors of trauma and difficult childhoods cultivate a calm, congruent life. Survivors may feel emotions that seem out of place in the present moment, experiencing anxiety, depression or shame, have unusual medical issues, or perhaps trouble remembering past events. Difficulty in relationships, low self-esteem, attention issues, and problems trusting are common. If this sounds like your experience, please know it is possible to both release and integrate your past for a more fulfilled present.
Together we will identify and incorporate actions that help you feel calm, confident, and capable. You’ll become aware of the signs of unresolved trauma being communicated through your body. We will use gentle somatic approaches that allow us to get beneath the words in order to focus on actions and felt experiences that lead to transformative healing work. Using Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, EMDR, and IFS to inform our work, we will collaboratively determine the path forward. This gentle approach can work when thinking your way out of a problem doesn’t feel like enough.
My therapeutic style is warm, informal, and interactive. I welcome people of different cultural, ethnic, religious affiliation, sexual diversity, and socioeconomic backgrounds to my practice. My approach is to bring your values, experiences, and cultural identity into therapy as essential foundations to our work. I believe an open, collaborative, playful, and genuine approach in psychotherapy is fundamental for your empowerment and safety in the therapeutic relationship – something essential for reconnecting you to the ease and strength in your body. At your own pace, we’ll heal trauma and relational wounds using body-based talk therapy.
Growth and change are possible no matter what has occurred in your life. Past adaptive strategies we wisely used to survive may no longer be serving us in the present moment. We all seek connection, love, and respect – and we may struggle to give it to ourselves. If you are looking for a curious and compassionate partner to walk with you on your path to healing, I welcome your call.
