Dr. Aneta Coufalova
Psychologist Associate - PsyD.
Not all battles are visible, but I believe in the power of understanding and healing. If you’re looking for someone who listens, connects, and works with YOU to uncover why you do and feel the way you do, you’ve found her.
Let’s explore how you can transform your struggles into understanding what happened, when exactly it happened, why it happened, and what consequences it left. My approach is compassionate and grounded in the belief that challenges aren’t meant to defeat you, but to highlight where your life may be out of balance.
- Are you feeling overwhelmed by loneliness, stuck in negative thoughts, or weighed down by impossible expectations?
- Do you ever find yourself haunted by past experiences, no matter how hard you try to move forward?
- Maybe you’re juggling multiple roles—spouse, parent, professional, or immigrant—and the pressure feels relentless.
- Or perhaps you’re struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, OCD, imposter syndrome, or finding it hard to trust yourself again.
- Maybe you’re navigating big transitions—whether it’s a career change, loss of a loved one, or trying to redefine your sense of purpose—and it’s leaving you feeling lost.
- Additionally, as someone who moved to a different country by myself, I know the challenges of adapting to new environments, navigating different cultural expectations, and finding your place in a new world. These experiences have helped me develop a compassionate, culturally sensitive approach to support you on your journey of growth and healing, no matter where you’re from or where you’re going.
If you’re tired of feeling like you’re just surviving instead of thriving, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to face this on your own. There’s more hope than you might think. Originally from Europe, I’ve been living in the USA for several years, and this experience has given me a unique perspective. I understand how complex life can feel—especially when your past and present seem to pull you in different directions. My diverse background allows me to approach therapy with both compassion and a broader understanding of the challenges you might be facing.
As a therapist, my focus is on helping you move beyond the frustrations of feeling stuck. If you’re seeking someone who listens, understands, and helps you find new ways to approach life’s challenges, I can provide that. If you’re ready to face your emotions head-on, discover new perspectives, and break through patterns that no longer serve you, I can guide you through that process. I’m here to offer more than just sympathy—I’ll provide the tools and challenges you need to make real, lasting change. Your journey, your needs, and your goals are what shape the work we do together.
We’ll process it differently (or for the first time) and work on letting go in a healthy way. The NEW YOU is ready to emerge – whether it’s tomorrow, next month, or next year, it will happen when the time is right for you. All topics, no matter how difficult or uncomfortable they may feel to discuss, are welcomed with an open heart and mind.
Please keep in mind that therapy is a process, and it’s important to be patient with yourself and with our work together. Don’t expect a quick fix in just one or two sessions—just as it didn’t take a day or two to reach where you are now, it will take time to heal and create the trusting, open relationship that can help you move forward. Building that trust, both with me and with yourself, is an important part of the journey.
Give yourself and this process the time it deserves, and I promise that, with patience, you may begin to see things differently. I understand that it’s common for some to feel discouraged early on, but if you don’t give up after a few sessions, the growth and change you’re seeking can unfold.
Also, I want to acknowledge that sometimes what I say may be perceived as offensive or challenging. Please know that it is never my intention to hurt you, but rather to offer a different perspective. If something I say does hurt, it often means we’ve touched on a sensitive topic that may need to be explored, processed, and talked through. It’s an invitation to open up, so that these difficult feelings don’t stay buried as a “skeleton in the closet” or weigh heavy in your heart.
Additionally, as a therapist, and through my own personal journey in a cross-cultural marriage with my Asian husband, I have come to truly appreciate the richness and growth that comes from navigating the dynamics of a relationship where cultural backgrounds differ. While there may be moments of discovery in understanding each other, I’ve found that these experiences foster deeper empathy, connection, and a broader perspective on life. For others in similar situations, know that this journey offers not only the beauty of learning from each other, but also the strength and fulfillment that come with it. I am here to support you with warmth, understanding, and a shared sense of connection.
Lastly, as a psychotherapist and photographer, I’ve found that creativity and nature have the power to heal and inspire us in profound ways. Whether it’s through a thoughtful photograph, time spent outdoors, or a creative project, these tools can help you reconnect with yourself and find peace.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation to all new clients so you can decide if we’re the right therapeutic fit for you—without any initial financial commitment.
