Is your child struggling behaviorally, socially, or emotionally? Are you eager to support your child, but have found that every way you have tried has had little success? Many children with great strengths struggle at one point or another. As a parent you want to be that support when your child is having a hard time, but find that with each effort you make to extend a helping hand, your child pushes it away. Choosing the right counselor for your child is an important decision! The counselor you choose becomes a part of your family’s world for a period of time.
I understand the commitment it takes for the entire family when deciding to reach out for support. I have dedicated my career to countless hours of training, education, and supervision in child development, attachment-focused best practices in parenting, and developmentally appropriate approaches to counseling children.
I am a Certified Foundational Theraplay® Practitioner, Certified Autplay® Therapy Provider, a Registered Circle of Security® Parenting Facilitator, and I am currently completing intensive training in Child-Centered Play Therapy. I specialize in play therapy services for children and teens with ADHD, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, difficulties with peer socialization, and opposition/disruptive behavior. My training has also uniquely allowed me to provide specialized support to children 3-11.
As a Play Therapist, I have expertise in understanding the behaviors of children and how to therapeutically support them while they work toward resolving negative feelings and learn new ways of coping. I use toys, games, and expressive art for skill building and therapeutic processing.
Through collaborative Parent Consultation Sessions, I spend time individually with you to discuss your concerns, your child’s progress in treatment, and identify ways to support your child while they work towards their goals. We are a team!
Did I mention that I collaborate with school staff and other providers on your child’s team to ensure that we are ALL on the same page and focused on helping your child achieve their goals?
If you are looking for a playful counselor that wears crazy socks, has a good sense of humor, and is dedicated to supporting both you and your child, then you have found to the right fit!
