It can be challenging to want to make a change, invest in yourself, try to view your life without judgment, and having no idea where to start. Truth be told, you don’t need to know where to start, just that you want something to be different. Your willingness to examine yourself is what you bring to sessions and my experience and skill is where I meet you in those sessions. My role is to challenge you when you’re stuck and keep you accountable, providing education and practical skills to use in daily life, and support you through the discomfort of change and vulnerability – and to celebrate the successes that follow.
My professional background ranges from working with schizophrenia, acute addiction, relational problems, existential crisis, general anxiety, depression, and many other areas in which others struggle. One of many things I’ve learned throughout my experience is that everyone deserves someone on their side, someone who hasn’t given up on them yet.
The twists and turns of life that brought you here to read this are the same topsy-turvy avenues that brought me here to write it. I’m glad you made it this far – when you’re ready to make that choice, I’ll be here to walk with you through whatever life is throwing at you, one authentically imperfect human to another.
My professional background ranges from working with schizophrenia, acute addiction, relational problems, existential crisis, general anxiety, depression, and many other areas in which others struggle. I started out as a counseling student intern at a psychosocial rehabilitation program. I conducted group and individual therapy at a non-profit for people with schizophrenia and other severe mental illnesses. In the 9 years that followed, I expanded my therapeutic skills and experiences at a detox facility, as a group therapist at an intensive outpatient program for those with substance use, and as a program manager at a co-occurring residential facility. I have come full circle to currently be the clinical director of that very same psychosocial rehabilitation program from my internship. Outside of that, I also see people in private practice and am an adjunct professor for counseling students in their master’s program. One of many things I’ve learned throughout my experience is that everyone deserves someone on their side, someone who hasn’t given up on them yet.
