Janelle Railey

Counselor, MA, LPC

53 Arlington St.
Asheville, NC 28801
828-656-0784

Janelle views psychotherapy as the development and investigation of a dynamic relationship between therapist and client. Her approach is mindful and collaborative. She is most concerned with understanding the unique concerns of each client and how these concerns impact her clients’ ability to be in relationship to self, others and society. Grounded in Jungian, Somatic, Existential and Contemplative theories her in-depth approach is process-oriented and responds to the unique situation of each individual.

Janelle believes in intrinsic sanity and rather than focusing on pathology she assists her clients in developing an understanding of and compassion for their repetitive (often painful) patterns. She helps her clients explore their presenting issues as they arise in the moment, rather than getting bogged down in historical narratives. Janelle views each therapy session as an opportunity to find interpersonal openings allowing her clients to experience a fresh engagement in life. Therapy with Janelle will never feel prescriptive or rote.

Janelle works with people with all presenting issues and symptoms. She has specialized training in trauma, perinatal issues, fertility issues, anxiety, addiction, eating disorders, bipolar, GLBTQ and gender concerns, depression, DBT, MBSR and somatic and yoga therapy.

Janelle runs therapy groups, as well as groups in clinical supervision and Authentic Movement.
