Ms. Elizabeth M. Klaers
Clinical Social Worker/Therapist, MSW, LCSW
At some point we have all struggled, been hurt and felt alone in our pain. What if you do not have to navigate these times alone? My intention is to offer a gentle, grounded presence contributing to a warm, collaborative environment where my clients feel safe enough to explore, make discoveries and integrate new ways of living life. The work in therapy often leads to a more balanced experience in one’s daily life and relationships.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) I provide therapy for individuals and families, both adults and children. I have worked with people struggling with anxiousness, depression, unresolved grief and family/relationship discord as well as survivors of abuse or neglect. Many parents I see are in need of support while children I work with have been described as withdrawn, fearful or acting out.
My work is influenced by psychodynamic and relational therapies; Family Therapy; Trauma Informed and Brain Based Therapy; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems; and Contemplative Psychology including mindfulness based approaches, expressive arts and body-mind awareness.
When working with families who have young children, I use Synergetic Play Therapy, Directive and Non Directive Play Therapy, Family Play Therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, skill building and parenting support. When it comes to child therapy, my philosophy is that healing for a child involves the whole family. I enjoy working with families that share the belief that for this work to be truly successful, the family needs to participate in the process of therapy when appropriate. Everyone and every family is different – I practice individualized approaches based on your unique needs.
